Gini's Nuclear Family

چکیده
The purpose of this paper is to justify the use of the Gini coefficient and two close relatives for summarizing the basic information of inequality in distributions of income. To this end we employ a specific transformation of the Lorenz curve, the scaled conditional mean curve, rather than the Lorenz curve as the basic formal representation of inequality in distributions of income. The scaled conditional mean curve is shown to possess several attractive properties as an alternative interpretation of the information content of the Lorenz curve and furthermore proves to yield essential information of polarization in the population.

Radar Modulation Identification Using Gini ’ s Coefficient
In this paper, we proposed a method for radar modulation identification using power inequality in frequency domain. The four classes of radar signals are classified: unmodulated (UM), linear frequency modulation (LFM), non-linear frequency modulation (NLFM), and frequency shift keying (FSK). To measure the frequency inequality, Gini's coefficient was introduced and the maximum likelihood (ML) c...
متن کاملGini's Multiple Regressions Gini's Multiple Regressions
Two regression methods can be interpreted as based on Gini's mean difference (GMD). One relies on a weighted average of slopes defined between adjacent observations and the other is based on minimization of the GMD of the errors. The properties of the former approach are investigated in a multiple regression framework. These estimators have representations that resemble the OLS estimators, and ...
متن کاملArtificial Neural Networks Versus Multiple Logistic Regression to Predict 30-Day Mortality After Operations For Type A Ascending Aortic Dissection§
BACKGROUND There are few comparative reports on the overall accuracy of neural networks (NN), assessed only versus multiple logistic regression (LR), to predict events in cardiovascular surgery studies and none has been performed among acute aortic dissection (AAD) Type A patients. OBJECTIVES We aimed at investigating the predictive potential of 30-day mortality by a large series of risk fact...

This paper represents a variant on the empirical analysis of technological adoption by Griliches. متن کاملInequalities and Duality in Gene Coexpression Networks of HIV-1 Infection Revealed by the Combination of the Double-Connectivity Approach and the Gini's Method
The symbiosis (Sym) and pathogenesis (Pat) is a duality problem of microbial infection, including HIV/AIDS. Statistical analysis of inequalities and duality in gene coexpression networks (GCNs) of HIV-1 infection may gain novel insights into AIDS. In this study, we focused on analysis of GCNs of uninfected subjects and HIV-1-infected patients at three different stages of viral infection based o...
